When I first decided to write and express myself publicly, I chose English. It's not my native language, but it is the "global language".
People often advised me to stick to French, telling me it would be easier.
My gut told me something different.
To be honest, I felt that the French-speaking audience might not be fully ready yet for the deep discussions I wanted to have about intelligence, power, and strategy. And... I was right.
So, without any clear plan but guided by my instincts, I began.
Usually, business advice says you should master one market first, then slowly expand. But my journey didn't follow this logic.
I started as a young entrepreneur with a set of skills considered "unusual" and "hard to market".
Leaving my former very weird job behind, I had to reinvent myself.
I used what I knew best: Human Intelligence (HUMINT) - but in a new way. I transformed my spy skills, my strategic communication skills into something powerful.
Today, my readers come from everywhere.
I mean really EVERYWHERE, that's crazy.
They're French, Americans, Indians, Canadians, Chileans, Koreans, Brazilians, Italians, Britishs, Germans, Portuguese, Spanish, Mexicans, Romanians, Emiratis, Turks, Cameroonians, South Africans, Australians, Japanese, Chinese, Moroccans, and many many more.
I tried to understand: what do all of these people have in common?
Yes, I have a majority of leaders, founders, CEOs in high-stakes industries in my audience. But not only.
I have aerospatial engineers, PhDs, quantum experts, artists, athletes and other fascinating profiles.
So, I started to look for a pattern.
The people who read me are united by a deep hunger for lucidity.
Where understanding the world, its invisible structures, its hidden power dynamics, becomes a way to orient oneself, to live better, and to remain unmanipulated.
They are active minds: curious thinkers, builders, observers of the real.
Mostly polymaths I'd say.
For them: thinking, questioning is an act of resistance.
And they have a rare taste for complexity.
And when I say "they" I basically say: YOU, reading me now.
But speaking to such a diverse, global audience isn't easy.
It's an enormous intellectual challenge.
It demands speaking in a way that resonates universally and respects cultural differences.
It requires intellectual rigor and careful attention.
Few realize how challenging it is, but those who do appreciate its value.
Each message requires precise language to avoid misunderstandings across cultures.
To navigate this complexity, I follow some simple rules.
- I focus on topics that resonate across cultures. I am lucky, my area of expertise is intersectional and crosscultural: geopolitics, intelligence and human behavior.
- After all, English is not my first tongue. I therefore write and speak quite simply. As I talk. Some like it, some don't, that's ok.
- I am in DIRECT contact with my audience. Some recommended me not to interact too much with the community, but this is not me. I often answer emails personally. I will never delegate this part of my activity. This exchange with my community is 1/ what brings me joy 2/ a feedback to understand how my messages are received and adjust accordingly.
- I proactively incorporate diverse cultural references.
I try my best, and I also do mistakes.
That's part of the process, and that is also ok.
